Treatment And Learning Center

TLC, also known as the Treatment Learning Center is located in Rockville Maryland and is a nonprofit organization designed to assist both children and adults with special requirements. They offer speech therapy, occupational therapy, psychoeducational testing and a variety of other programs. One feature of this facility is the Family Hearing Center. This center offers audiology treatments and services to both children and adults suffering from hearing loss. The center works to first diagnose the issue then provide appropriate amplification solutions that are balanced in both benefit and price.

The Testing and Tutoring Center is another part of TLC. This center can test children for learning impairments and identify the special needs of such children. The center takes a team approach to the problem from many different angles. For example a child may be dealing with developmental delays and ADHD at the same time, the center is fully equipped to handle multiple kinds of educational and developmental problems. The center also offers tutoring and coaching in addition to evaluation and treatment.

TLC also has schools such as the Katherine Thomas Lower, Middle and High Schools. These educational facilities are for children requiring special education. In addition to a teacher, each classroom also features a licensed social worker, a licensed speech language pathologist and a licensed physical and occupational therapist. You can trust that your child is getting the stimulation, education and care that he or she needs. The High School is structured a bit differently to meet the needs of teenagers who are becoming more independent.

In addition to the schools TLC also has summer enrichment programs. If you want to reinforce the skills your child has learned throughout the year you may want to try one of these programs. Not only are they educational but also enjoyable. Your child gets to visit their school friends while participating in a variety of fun, safe activities designed to meet their limitations and needs. TLC also offers programs for adults that serve various purposes. One of those programs is called the Outcomes Service.

The Outcomes Service works to help adults suffering from cognitive impairment, brain injury or other developmental or neurological disabilities to function as contributing members of society. This service educates these adults to do their best with the skills they have and helps them find gainful employment or perform some kind of community service. This not only improves the quality of life for the patient but helps the community also. As you can see the Treatment and Learning Center offers many different solutions for special needs patients of all ages.
